The first 16 chapters of Saint Seiya were aired in the U.S. through Cartoon Network under the name of "Knights of the Zodiac". Then it was cancelled because it had no audience, which was due to the fact that americans considered it a very violent cartoon so they cut out the violent scenes and edited the anime so that the characters would pour green blood instead of red(the original) and that way they could state that such violence was happening between non-human beings (which doesnt happen in the original version).
Saint Seiya has been a great succes all around the world since 1985 and it is still producing new episodes (1985 to 2007 is much more than the simpsons, but with fewer episodes). It translated into all of the european languages and its success includes all of South America, Europe and a large part of Asia. All of its oppening and closing soundtracks (except for USA) featured some of the most important heavymetal artists covering the original track for every language for which it was translated.
The most interesting fact is that Saint Seiya is much less violent than othr caroons that where aired trough cartoon network, like "Wolf's Rain", "Ghost in the Shell" and "Dragon Ball"

Never heard of Knights of the Zodiac either. For the US to censor that is kinda hypocritical. The nation of mine is going no wheres. Non the less it does look very interesting I will have to look into it.
